Description

The Ardennes American Military Cemetery, located in Neupré, is a memorial dedicated to American soldiers who died during World War II. It is the final resting place of 5,328 soldiers, most of whom fell during the Battle of the Bulge.

The cemetery, managed by the American Battle Monuments Commission, was established on 36.5 hectares after the liberation of the town in September 1944 and the creation of a temporary cemetery in February 1945. It is shaped like a Greek cross, with a large memorial made of English limestone, adorned with a high-relief carved American eagle and symbols of justice, liberty, and truth. The names, units, and origins of the soldiers buried there are inscribed on slabs around the memorial, with detailed topographical and military maps inside.
