Discovered only in 1958 in a quarry face at the Hotton quarry, the caves were made inaccessible by the quarry owner in 1959. After several episodes, the company “Grottes des 1001 Nuits” became the tenant and operator of the caves in 1964 and then the sole owner in 1994.

Practical information
Unfortunately, access is not possible for people with reduced mobility or heart conditions: even though part of the return journey is by elevator, the route includes a total of 580 steps.
The temperature in the caves is 54 °F all year round. Please dress appropriately.
