Description
Two horns, like those on old gramophones, listen to the sea. A woman places her ear to one of them while leaving room for someone else to listen to the sea through the other horn. The work’s design is inspired by the Art Nouveau style of the nearby Grand Hotel Bellevue and by the era when the coast was still a prestigious resort area.
The work may also refer to the 1930s, when, before the invention of radar technology, people tried to detect the sound of approaching aircraft using large horns.
