Menin Gate

Menin Gate

Ypres , West Flanders

The Menin Gate is a monument located on the outskirts of the town of Ypres. Built in 1927 to commemorate the many British and Commonwealth soldiers who died in the fierce fighting around the Ypres Salient and were not buried during the First World War. The interior and exterior walls bear the names of all the identified dead.
