Description

In the heart of the city, Saint-Antoine Court offers a peaceful oasis between the lively streets of Féronstrée and Hors-Château. Once abandoned and overrun with debris, the area was rehabilitated in the 1970s by architect Charles Vandenhove, also known for his work on the CHU of Liège.

The houses on the Hors-Château side were carefully restored, each façade treated as a unique case and enhanced with personal touches such as columns and decorative tiles. On the opposite side, along Rue des Brasseurs, the former brewery buildings were in ruins and had to be recreated in Vandenhove’s distinctive style.

At the center of this charming square stands a fountain shaped like an obelisk, connected to a monument reminiscent of Mayan pyramids—an artistic creation by the French duo Anne and Patrick Poirier. Today, Saint-Antoine Court remains a beloved spot in the city, offering a harmonious blend of uniformity and diversity that invites quiet contemplation.
