Aulne Abbey

Aulne Abbey

Aulne , Hainaut

Aulne Abbey was, from 1147 onward, a Cistercian monastery located in the Gozée district, about ten kilometers from Charleroi. In 1794, the monks of Aulne fled upon hearing of the arrival of the French revolutionaries, who plundered the abbey for several days, destroyed it, and set it on fire along with its library.
