Description
The Rue du Carré, stretching for about fifty metres, connects two historic streets of Liège: En Neuvice and Rue du Pont.
With an average width of just 80 centimetres, this alley is unofficially considered the narrowest street in Liège, making it a naturally pedestrian-only passage. Due to its tight width, crossing paths with someone can be quite a challenge.
Dating back to at least the 14th century, the street owes its name to the surname “Carré,” likely belonging to a resident of the street or neighbourhood. Despite its name, it has no connection with Liège’s famous nightlife district.
