Crypt of the Laeken Cemetery

When the crypt of the nearby church began receiving the first tombs of the Belgian royal family, the Laeken Cemetery quickly became a sought-after burial site. In the 1870s, after the expansion of the grounds above, an underground extension was excavated, following the exact layout of the pathways on the surface.
